After seeing many emergency vehicles flying past our office window, we peered out to see what we thought was a collision between some boats, then we saw the tailfin. The helicopters swooped in, lifeboats floated by, empty. There are dozens of boats surrounding the plane. The plane’s front end was still afloat. It appears that everyone has been rescued.The plane now appears to be sinking outside Chelsea Piers.

Interesting. News of the event contained in this small rectangle is busting out all over the U.S. (and maybe elsewhere). Doesn’t seem so big when it is out your window while the rest of the city–and you–are going about your business. Such is the way of news hype and amplification. So glad no one seriously hurt.
